The PistenBully 400 is coming through!
A strong and dependable companion.

Laupheim, 7th January 2008. Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG continues its FIRE IN RED Tour and introduces the new PistenBully 400 to the world. FIRE IN RED represents Kässbohrer’s extensive development potential, not to mention the inspirational design of the product itself.
From its comfortable cockpit to its powerful yet economical engine, to its robust frame structure – all of the PistenBully 400’s features have been designed to cater in the most effective way possible for the demands of the driver and the difficult conditions of the mountains.

Driver-friendly, quiet and easy to operate.
As soon as you enter the cockpit, you feel on top of the world. Our insistence on top quality design and our extensive experience have created a place of work which is absolutely without equal. The ergonomically designed driver’s seat with armrest is infinitely adjustable in all directions and allows the driver to carry out his work with comfort and without causing tiredness. The semi-circular steering wheel allows the PistenBully 400 to be controlled with ease, and the ergonomically designed joystick is also very easy to use. The PistenBully 400's control panel is neatly arranged and highly user-friendly. All important functions can be grasped quickly. Safe and efficient operation is ensured. The neat screen provides access to all important information and enables the operator to understand quickly what is happening. The PistenBully 400’s passenger seat is extra wide and can be folded away. There is a large box under the seat which provides sufficient storage space for tool kits and much more besides. The spacious cockpit has been built using Kässbohrer’s tried and trusted hybrid construction method, is extremely stable and is ROPS certified in ac-cordance with DIN 30770 and ÖN 9850. The large tinted windscreen extends fully downwards and provides all-round visibility. Naturally, the PistenBully 400 has a folding transporting platform, which allows up to 3 employees to be carried safely on the platform in accordance with the requirements of standards DIN 30770 / ÖN 9850.

The driver-friendly cockpit makes operating the vehicle extremely easy and provides a pleasant and quiet place of work for the driver.

The PistenBully 400’s lighting concept is an all-round success. Two front headlamps and a twin searchlight are integrated in the roof of the cabin, ensuring clear long-range and working-area illumination. H3 SideFinder lights mounted on the left and right sides of the supporting frame ensure excellent illumination of the slope edges and the side parts of the clearing blade. Two H11 rear spotlights mounted on the ball wall of the roof ensure a per-fect view of the tiller and the slope and there is also a service light in the engine compartment which ensures good illumination of the supporting frame area. As an option, it is possible also to have two TreeLine lamps or to have Xenon versions of the front and rear working area spotlights.

Precision handling in any situation is guaranteed by the finely tuned running gear, the main frame of which consists of high-strength fine-grain steel that is extremely resistant to cold temperatures. Calculation of the frame using the finite element method has allowed a frame structure with less indentation. Optimally positioned connecting points for the scoop frame and rear attachment carrier guarantee ideal pushing and surface levelling results. All the carrying axles have long, generously proportioned and shot-peened square flat torsion bar springs, which require minimum levels of maintenance. The new PistenBully 400 sets out with a 6-cylinder engine with turboloader and some 370 hp. The combination of power-ful drive pumps with integrated pressure cut-off and – a new feature – electrically proportional control, plus hydraulic motors in constant construction form with direct trans-mission through to the new planetary gearbox ensure optimum efficiency. The PistenBully 400’s tension axle can be adjusted hydraulically. The hydraulic track tensioning ensures that the tracks have a long operational lifespan.

The all-round successful light concept ensures not only a clear view of the long-range and immediate working areas together with a perfect view of the tiller and slope, but also first-class illumination of the slope edges and the side wings of the clearing blade.

Perfect finishing.
The PistenBully 400’s AlpineFlexTiller produces marvellous results in all snow conditions. Its overall weight is low, with the extension and tiller frames being particularly light. The finisher support ensures perfect alignment to the engine compartment by means of the "windscreen wiper effect" and the large over-throw protection prevents snow from finding its way onto the tiller or the finished parts of the slope. In addition, a large tiller pump en-sures optimal rotational speed and perfect torque for the Alpis captivating. The PistenBully 400 can also be supplied with a wineFlexTiller even in the most difficult operating conditions. Optional hydraulically foldable side flaps prevent the build-up of side embankments and ensure a perfect transition in the case of overlapping grooming.

inch or in fun park configuration. Thanks to new glass production technology, there is no longer any need for additional protective windows on the winch machines. The winch can be rotated about 360°, meaning that it is possible to operate on the mountain slopes in any position. The maximum rope traction power of up to 4 tonnes provides high safety reserve levels. The RopeFailureDetector early warning system auto-matically monitors the rope and can detect wire and rope tears early on. When the winch arm is tilted and when the maximum usable rope length of 1,000 metres has been reached, an alarm sounds to alert the driver. The PistenBully 400 Park offers options without limit in the fun park. Thanks to the panoramic visibility from the cockpit, the driver has no difficulty in controlling the many available accessories with precision.
