On 21 November 2008 the Leitner group opens a new plant in the Tyrolean town of Telfs, Austria. Only twelve months after the construction crews moved onto the site, 65 employees start work there.
Leitner Technologies have relocated their North Tyrolean activities from Zirl near Innsbruck to Telfs in the Upper Inn Valley, where they now have a modern production plant and spare parts warehouse with a total of 6,000 sq.m. of floor space. The objective behind the move is to be able to operate in even closer contact with customers, on the one hand, and to maximize potential synergies within the group, on the other.
The 3,250 sq.m. of production space will be used by Leitner and Leitwind to
produce components for ropeways and wind turbines. Lift chairs for the whole
of the Leitner group will be produced there as of next year, and for Leitwind
Telfs will be the location for engineering the turbines and support structures
and fitting the hubs for the European market.
In the case of Prinoth, Telfs is now the site of a completely new central spare
parts warehouse for supplying customers worldwide. A total of about 20,000 different
parts are stored in 2,500 euro-pallet spaces and a shelving bay with a total
storage area of 5,000 sq.m. In the medium term, Telfs is also to become Prinoth’s
pre-owned vehicle center.
When operating at final capacity, the Telfs facility will have a headcount of
between 120 and 150 employees.
