MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA - Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is focusing on improving skiers' resort experience for the 2005/06 winter season, with a complete remodel of the Main Lodge dining facilities at the center of the upgrades.  Mammoth has invested more than $150 million in on-mountain developments over the last 10 years.
 
Main Lodge Dining Facilities Remodel
Mammoth is committing $4 million to a total renovation of the Main Lodge dining facilities, one of the highest traffic dining areas on the mountain.  The upgrade will transform the third floor of Mammoth's oldest lodge into "Broadway Marketplace" - a more open and modern environment.  A new fireplace accented by natural tones and mountain charm will give the 21,695 square foot space a more comfortable feel. 
 
In an effort to create a modern food court with healthy, fresh foods, Broadway Marketplace will feature fresh baked bread, a grill, a salad bar, brick oven pizza, and lighter fare to meet individual tastes.  Mammoth is also investing in state-of-the-art kitchen equipment that will allow for new additions to the menu and the ability to offer catering services for groups of up to 400.  Plans also include a new slopeside bar with views of Broadway and the Unbound Terrain Park, plus a stage for live entertainment.
 
"The remodel will create an entirely new environment at Main Lodge," said Pam Murphy, Senior Vice President at Mammoth Mountain.  "We have listened to guest feedback, and with enhanced dining equipment, better use of space and some exciting new areas, the upgrade will provide our guests with the quality dining experience and relaxing atmosphere that they have been asking for."
 
Hospitality Upgrades
Tamarack Lodge & Resort began construction on two new cabins this summer: an 800 square-foot two bedroom cabin and a 650 square-foot one bedroom cabin. Both cabins are scheduled be ready for guest occupancy in May 2006.  The original Tamarack Lodge was built in 1924 and currently has 28 cabins and 11 lodge rooms.  The new cabins will increase Tamarack's occupancy to 30 cabins, allowing more visitors to enjoy the tranquil lake setting.
 
To make getting to the slopes quick-and-easy for Mammoth visitors, in-hotel rental shops will be built inside both the Mammoth Mountain Inn and Juniper Springs Resort. 
The new shops will make it convenient for hotel guests at each slopeside property to rent their gear on-site, allowing them to hit the slopes directly from their hotel.
 
Other Improvements
Two new shuttle busses will expand Mammoth's transportation system.  Other summer investments include 33 new snowmobiles, additions to the snowcat grooming fleet, and more.  Mammoth will also undergo an upgrade of its property management system to better serve hospitality.
