Hemsedal / Norway: News winter 2004-2005

Some news for the next winter season are now ready. Expanded beginner and family area, new express chairlift and more ski in ski out beds.

• Expanded beginners and family area, two new platter lifts and two more slopes. The area will have waves, mini quarter pipe, jumps, rails, self timer slope, path in the forest with animals made of wood, tobogganing, roller carpet and lavvo. The beginners and family area is located at the base of the ski centre and will also be a fantastic play ground for the children.
• Hemsedal Winter Show which was a success last winter will be on Tuesdays and will be moved down to the base of the ski centre, making it even more family friendly.
• The Children’s Ski and Troll Night will be on Thursdays.
• New 8-seater chairlift from the base. (Replaces a 3 seater chairlift).
• 400 new ski in ski out beds
• Veslestølen Cabins , 10 new  cabins each with 12 beds and of very high quality.
• Staven Apartments, 36 new apartments at the Welcome Centre, in total 210 beds. 
• 4 new large cabins at  Skarsnuten, 15 – 20 beds and of very high quality.

NEW 8-SEATER CHAIRLIFT!

Hemsedal builds Scandinavia's largest chairlift! As a part of the development plan for Hemsedal, Skistar AB has decided to invest in more modern and efficient lift capacity in Hemsedal Skisenter. There will be installed a new 8-seater express chairlift from the base area to the mountain. Fully utilized the lift will have a capacity of 3.800 persons per hour. The lift will be 1414 meters long, lifting the guests 457 vertical meters. Measured by capacity and length/hight this will be the biggest chairlift installation in Scandinavia. The lift will replace the present 3-seater Holvinheisen.

The new lift is of the type LEITNER and will be installed by Taubaneteknikk AS. The total investment is in the magnitude of 45 mill NOK.

A considerable growth in the guest volume during serveral years has caused a need to increase the central lift capacity in Hemsedal.
