Pfronten / Germany: New four-seater chairlift on the Hochalpe-Breitenbergsattel

The long serving Hochalp-ropeway on the Breitenberg has finally been made redundant. After more than 50 years of hard work the ropeway has well earned its retirement.

A modern fixed gripped four-seater chairlift will transport guests to the Hochalp from September of 2004. The Breitenberg-ropeway Pfronten corp., inc. has invested in the future, with the support of the local authority, to provide a greater experience for walkers and skiers alike.

The new 4-seater chair will be constructed by Leitner, Sterzing.

The new 4-seater chairlift "Hochalpe-Breitenbergsattel" will be constructed on a new route. The new base station will be approximately 150 m south of the present station, below the Hochalphütte. The summit station will be situated in place of the old station. The lift will negotiate a difference in altitude of approximately 200 m over more than 10 pilons and a sloped length of 800 m. The transportation capability is around 1705 persons/h in the winter. In summer the drive speed is slightly less and hence a lower transportation capability of 1160 person/h.

A conveyor belt will make entry easier for skiers and snowboarders. The cushioned comfort-chairs in "Breitenberg-Rot" will guarantee a relaxed and comfortable summit ride.

Pfronten is convinced that the new 4-seater chairlift, as well as the improved ski slopes, walking and mountain bike routes on the Breitenberg, will offer guests and locals a completely new mountain experience.
