Substantial investment in the Planai and Dachstein region
Investments of 3 million Euros for this coming winter season alone.
The Planai-Hochwurzen-Ropeways are well known for showing the way ahead in regards to their investment policies. In the last 5 years an estimated € 35 mill. have been invested in the infrastructure of the ski slopes. For the forthcoming winter season projects over € 3 mill. will be realised.
A detailed account of the investment programme:
Snow-making-machines
- Replacement of 2 low pressure snow-making-machines on the Planai and Hochwurzen
- In able to meet the constant demand of providing snow faster various improvement will be made.
Slopes
- Improvement of the descent Mitterstein on the Dachstein in order to use this slope in times of poor snow conditions.
- Construction of slopes to provide maximum enjoyment for beginners .
- Redevelopment of the Poser ski-overpass.
- Various piste improvements (greater width) on the Planai and Hochwurzen.
- Improvement of safety netting on various descents.
Grooming-machines
- The snowborad-funpark on the Dachstein-glacier has become an exciting product of the region. Normal pisting-machines only have a limited use for the preparation of these so-called parks. A new pisting-machine will be acquired in order to maintain the high quality of the funpark.
Ropeways and lifts
- Now that the electricity supply for the Dachstein ropeway is in place, there is nothing to stop the ropeway becoming electrically powered. As part of this reconstruction the present diesel unit, installed in 1966, will be removed and replaced by modern elektro-motors. In addition to these improvements the complete controlling system will be updated and an emergency electrical unit will be installed.
Other investments
- 2nd step of improvements on the Dachstein electricity supply
The first step of this task, the electricity supply of the summit station on the Hunerkogel in 2003, was successfully completed. The second step of development, planned for 2004, is the supply of the glacier lifts I and II, as well as the Mitterstein chairlift.
- Dachstein view platform (Dachstein Sky Walk)
In order to provide guests with an unique experience a new panorama-path will be constructed at the summit station. It is hereby possible to savour the fantastic view in all directions of the Dachstein region.
- Purchase of 2 new company busses
The construction af an automatic pay-toll point on the Planai in order to suffiiciently control the use of the roads at all times.
- Purchase of a city-bus to improve the public transport services
Conversion of the computing programme to a new book keeping system
- Construction of a new parking lot to create more parking space at the base station.
