Mt.Bachelor: What's New 2006-07
The nights are growing cooler and you find yourself dreaming of the deep powder runs from last season. While you’ve been dreaming, we’ve been hard at work preparing for the upcoming season. With over $4.5 million spent on improvements, it has been a busy summer!
· NEW! Pine Marten Express - Brand New High Speed Quad, Same Great Name!Mt.Bachelor’s most used lift is brand new this season! The $3.5 million high-speed quad will utilize the best technology available in the ski industry. Doppelmayr CTEC is on-schedule to finish the lift for operations in November! What does this mean for guests? Efficient lift service that provides access to almost every part of the mountain and the peace of mind that they are riding one of the most up to date lifts in North America!
· NEW! Pine Marten Express Lift Powered by WindNo we aren’t putting wind mills on Mt.Bachelor, but we are showing our commitment to renewable energy! Pine Marten Express joins Sunrise Express in the wind power category! With the help of Mid-State Electric and Bonneville Power Administration, Mt.Bachelor will purchase enough wind power to operate Pine Marten pollution free all winter. One year of wind power keeps over 850,000 pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere, the equivalent to planting 14,000 trees.
· NEW! Super Shuttle Fueled by Bio-DieselOne more reason to skip driving up on your own! Not only is the Super Shuttle Season Pass a great deal, $100 in September, but you can ride up knowing our buses are doing all they can to preserve the pristine wilderness we love to enjoy. Mt.Bachelor is doing this with the intent to switch the grooming fleet to bio-diesel by next season!
· NEW! Camoplast BR 350 SherpaWinch CatMt.Bachelor’s commitment to excellent grooming continues. This new $300,000 winch cat is added to another already on our fleet. The addition new cat means better grooming on steeper slopes and more winch cat availability to groom the Superpipe and other terrain features. The power, balance and long winch capacity on this winch cat is the tool for tackling the steeps and for laying down perfect corduroy on your favorite groomers.
· NEW! The Glades at SunriseMt.Bachelor was granted permission by the US Forest Service to clear second growth trees from the area between the Sunrise Express lift and Marshmallow this summer. Meaning the return of Glade skiing and riding to the Sunrise area! Access to this area has been limited for approximately the last eight to ten years. This is an on- going project conducted by our Grooming Crew that was started this summer and will continue through next year.
