New Lifts, New Terrain For Sun Peaks
With a season of exceptional snow conditions driving expected record skier visits, the Sun Peaks Resort Corporation today announced over four million dollars in capital improvements for the 2006/2007 winter season designed to raise the already world class resort experience to the next level.
“Sun Peaks Resort is having a record season due in large part to the incredible snow conditions we’ve experienced so far this season and our growing reputation as a world class destination resort,” explained Darcy Alexander, Vice President and General Manager of the Sun Peaks Resort Corporation. “Next season’s capital expansion will be guided by the same vision that has been responsible for Sun Peaks’ success to date and will further enhance the overall resort experience for our guests.”
The capital expansion planned for the 2006/2007 winter season includes the following projects:
New Quad Chairlift on Tod Mountain
Faster access to the deepest and driest powder, great glade skiing and advanced/expert terrain on Tod Mountain
Direct and faster return access to popular runs like Chute, Spillway, Green Door, Cariboo, Bluff and many others

New Umbrella Café in the East Village at the base of Mt. Morrisey
Ski-in/ski-out café with indoor and outdoor seating for up to 100 guests will provide a convenient place to stop, refuel, and marks the beginning of the new East Village Commercial Core development
New East Village parking for close to 500 cars adjacent to the new café will create a new starting point for alpine skiers and riders, as well as guests accessing the Nordic and Snowshoe trail networks
New East Village Surface Lift will link the Umbrella Café to the base of the Mt. Morrisey Express Lift and ease access between Sundance Mountain and Mt. Morrisey

The new Orient Ridge runs will be designed in the same way as many of the runs on Mt. Morrisey with numerous tree islands left to enhance the beauty of the ski experience and improve snow conditions
The existing Rambler (Green/Novice) run on Sundance Mountain will be widened to expand the resort’s novice teaching terrain and improve access to Mt. Morrisey and the East Village
Improvements and expansion to the Terrain Parks on Sundance Mountain including more features (rails, jumps etc.), an expanded Green/Blue Terrain Park and a new Edge Park Bully grooming machine to increase Terrain Park grooming and feature preparation
