Mellau / Damüls: Possible connection of the ski regions

The managing director of the Damülser Seilbahnen, Wolfgang Beck, is confident that the connection of the Mellau and Damüls ski regions will be politically approved.

Wolfgang Beck stressed that there had been much positive feedback during numerous meetings regarding the developments. The advantages of connecting the regions was clear to all parties concerned. The Damülser mayor, Wilfried Madlener, sees no opposition to the project in his community. The tourist industry and gastronomy as well as lift owners in the Hinterbregenzerwald region believe the intended improvements to be of paramount importance to the region which needs new ski areas in order to be competetive. The mountain-protection society are opposed to a connection of the Mellau and Damüls region due to the massive environmental implication of the project as well as the creation of further traffic problems on the Bregenzerwald-Bundesstrasse.
