Mont Blanc ropeway

The ropeway which leads to the Punta Helbronner in the Mont Blanc-Massiv from Courmayer/I is to be extended. Ecology groups from Italy, France and Switzerland are opposing this project. The existing ropeway will have reached its maximum length of operation in 2007 and is to be replaced by a modern and more efficient ropeway. The region of Aostatal has already granted the project.

The new ropeway is to have a three times higher transport capacity as well as a new panorama-gondola from the mid station. The mid station will be constructed with shops, bars, restaurants, a solarium as well as a multimedia area. The base station is to be transferred and equipped with a larger parking lot.
