USFS seeking Public Input on Purgatory Resort Gelandé Chairlift
Terrain Project, and Boundary Adjustment Proposal
The Columbine Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest is requesting public input on the Purgatory Resort Gelandé Chairlift, Terrain Project, and Boundary Adjustment proposal. Purgatory Resort submitted an application to realign and construct the Gelandé ski lift, which was approved in the 2008 Durango Mountain Resort Improvement Plan and FEIS. The realignment of the lift would create a skiing experience with five new ski runs. The realignment and new ski runs were not assessed in the 2008 FEIS and ROD. As proposed, the new lift alignment would construct ski area improvements outside of the current ski area boundary. In addition, the proposal would adjust the ski area boundary and amend the Forest Plan to have all ski area improvements located in the ski area boundary.
An Environmental Assessment discusses the details and impacts from the proposal, and can be viewed or downloaded from https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=52682
