THE NEW 10-PASSENGER “PIZ SETEUR” GONDOLA LIFT
LEITNER ropeways has installed one of the biggest attractions of the 2017/2018 winter season at the foot of the Sassolungo: the new “Piz Seteur” gondola lift with its distinctive Italian design by Pininfarina went into service on December 6. On December 6, one of the biggest attractions of the 2017/2018 winter season went into service at the foot of the Sassolungo in Val Gardena. It is the new 10-passenger “Piz Seteur” gondola lift constructed by Leitner ropeways in collaboration with Pininfarina for the company Piz de Sella S.p.a in Selva di Val Gardena.
NEW CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
The ropeway provides a new, modern link with the Sellaronda, one of the best loved ski routes among winter sports enthusiasts, which runs around the Sella massif, but it will also have a major impact from summer 2018. Igor Marzola, CEO of the Piz Sella ski resort in Val Gardena explains: “This new gondola lift brings a new concept of sustainable mobility to the Sassolungo and Sella Pass area. Using our ropeway together with the “Gran Paradiso” chairlift, you can now reach the Sella Pass from the Plan de Gralba car park in just 25 minutes. So, getting to the Sella Pass is now easy even without a vehicle.”
WORLD FIRST IN VAL GARDENA
Formed of two sections, the Leitner ropeways installation will bring new standards of comfort, safety and performance to Val Gardena. The 10-passenger “Symphony 10” cabins, a world first in Val Gardena, offer passengers much more space inside as well as wider boarding areas, combined with a distinctive Pininfarina design. Six cabins at a time pass through the station at slowed speed, with their doors open for 65 seconds, giving passengers more time to board and alight in complete safety and without stress. With 81 10-passenger cabins, the “Piz Seteur” gondola lift, which among other things is the first station in Italy to be designed by Pininfarina, can transport 3,450 passengers per hour. A perfect balance between the most modern design by Pininfarina and careful engineering provides a series of benefits at the midway station, including undoubtedly greater passenger comfort.
