LEITNER ropeways adding momentum to Austria’s ski resorts
New ropeways are increasing capacity, safety and comfort at winter sports hotspots
The Austrian ropeway industry is one of the most innovative, popular and modern in the world. Significant investments have once again been made for the coming winter season.
Two new facilities have been built in Salzburg, which will enormously enrich the existing offering for fans of winter sports while also maximizing the skiing experience. As a result, a long-held wish for a new gondola lift on the Maiskogel in Kaprun has slowly become reality. Starting this winter, a new 10-passenger gondola lift will ensure guests can directly access the ski resort from their favorite winter sports destinationand, in a further expansion step, they will be able to reach the glacier ski resort on the Kitzsteinhorn in a tricable gondola lift from 2019 onwards. The opening of the 10-passenger gondola lift to the Maiskogel is just the first step. In future, guests will also no longer need to travel to the lift station by car but instead can access it easily on foot.
On behalf of Bergbahnen Obertauern, LEITNER ropeways built the new Plattenkarbahn ropeway, a Telemix system fitted with Diamond 10-passenger cabins and Premium 8-seater chairlifts. Particular attention has also been paid to details that contribute to the highly attractive installations. The chairs are upholstered with loden fabrics and thus not only exude a feeling of cosiness but exclusivity, too. In terms of performance, the new ropeway will also provide even more momentum on the slopes in Obertauern. Able to transport up to 3600 people per hour, this facility is a real powerhouse.
Tyrol is also seeing major modernization
In the Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach ski resort, the new “Wimbachexpress” 10-passenger gondola lift ensures maximum transport quality and, thanks to the extended route, also opens up new ski slopes. The new ropeway has also had an additional welcome effect for all freeridingfans: the new development on the Wetterkreuz means this perfect freeriding area is ready to explore.
Two new LEITNER ropeways systems have been realized in Kitzbühel. This marks the modernization of two 30 and 50 year old lifts in the well-known Kitzbüheler Horn ski area. The chairs on the new “Brunelle” chairlift featuring seat heating, a bubble and genuine leather covers really add to the premium feel. The journey is now also much faster – in future, travel time to the summit area will be halved from eight minutes to just four. The new “Raintal” 10-passenger gondola lift offers even greater acceleration, cutting travel time by two-thirds. The configuration of the modern “Symphony” cabins visibly represents a new generation of exclusive gondola lifts: ergonomically designed single seats with seat heating and genuine leather covers, a wider and therefore more spacious interior, and wider seats with more distance to the opposite row of seats, all ensure the travel experience will be utterly relaxing.
