Since we tore down the Market on April 26th, we’ve been doing groundwork for the terminal foundation. So far our crew has been digging and trenching in the hole left behind from the old Market. Nothing has visibly changed except that behind (and under) the scenes the electricians have been laying the conduit and installing the electrical vault and other utilities for the new gondola. It’s still just a hole to the casual eye at this point, but in the next week or two, re-bar will be laid the platform for the bottom terminal will be poured.
The lower line has been marked with stakes, we had to doze several feet of snow on the upper tower locations to get to the proper ground elevation. We’ll begin digging the tower footings within the new few weeks, that’s when it will start to get really interesting!
There’s still too much snow to drive any equipment up to the summit, so construction of the top terminal comes later. The sheave assemblies and terminal structures are scheduled to arrive mid-August
