CWA OMEGA V receives top accolade in Red Dot Award: Product Design

The Swiss cabin manufacturer, CWA Constructions SA/Corp., has been honored in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2019. Its new OMEGA V cabin for continuous-movement gondola lifts was awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best, which is the competition’s top accolade. It is conferred for visionary design and goes to the best products in one category.

 

The fifth generation of the OMEGA cabin impresses with its characteristic cabin shape, which has been taken to an entirely new development stage with great ingenuity. For the first time, the cabin suspension has been integrated into the overall design. Clean lines help to create a puristic and timeless appearance.

With its maximized transparency and optimal ergonomics, the interior of the OMEGA V ensures a top ride experience for passengers. The design concept has been consistently implemented all the way through to the smallest detail. Because all versions and options were included in the design process, every possible cabin configuration creates an inherently coherent overall impression. As a result, the OMEGA V not only provides top comfort for its passengers but also sets new benchmarks in stylish design.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design is one of the biggest design competitions worldwide. In 2019, designers and manufacturers from 55 nations entered over 5,500 products for the award. Only 1.5% of the submitted entries were honored with the Red Dot: Best of the Best.

The international jury, comprised of experienced experts from a wide range of specialist fields, tested the products during an evaluation process lasting several days in order to identify the best designs. True to the motto, “In search of good design and innovation”, they place the emphasis on criteria such as level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, longevity and ergonomics as part of their assessment.

The OMEGA V convinced the jury with its minimalist and puristic shape, the generously proportioned glass construction and the premium quality of the elegant interior.

On July 8, 2019, CWA will be celebrating its success at the award ceremony as part of the Red Dot Gala at the Aalto Theater in Essen when the OMEGA V officially joins the prestigious group of Red Dot Design winners.

In order to appraise the wide scope of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award is broken down into the three distinct disciplines: Red Dot Award: Product Design; Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design; and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. With more than 18,000 submissions, the Red Dot Award is one of the largest design competitions in the world. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The name and brand of the award were developed in the 1990s by Red Dot CEO, Professor Dr. Peter Zec.
