Poley Mountain Resorts Expands with Major Land Acquisition

Unlocking Exciting Future Growth

Poley Mountain Resorts is proud to announce the acquisition of a significant, 110-acre, parcel of land adjoining the resort’s western boundary - an investment that marks a bold step forward in the evolution of Poley to a four-season recreation resort.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Poley,” said General Manager Jamie Hare. “The addition of this land opens the door to exciting possibilities from expanded recreational experiences to a diverse range of accommodation offerings that will elevate the guest experience.”

Located in Waterford near Sussex, Poley Mountain has been a cornerstone of winter recreation in the region since 1957. Today, the resort features 32 trails, four lifts, and a modern lodge, welcoming visitors year-round.

Since being revitalized in 1999 by a passionate group of 40 local ski enthusiasts, Poley has operated as a community-driven, reinvestment-focused organization. Over the past 25+ years, nearly $15 million has been reinvested into the resort, supporting major milestones such as the installation of a triple chairlift in 2008, the construction of a new lodge following a 2014 fire, and the launch of lift-accessed mountain biking in 2020—now boasting over 16 kilometres of downhill trails.

Looking ahead, Poley is working with Ecosign, internationally recognized mountain resort planners based in Whistler, to shape a comprehensive vision for the future.

“We’re incredibly excited about what’s next,” said volunteer President Michael MacNeil. “This planning process will help us unlock the full potential of our expanded footprint—from expanded skiing and recreation to thoughtfully designed on-hill accommodations.”

Future development concepts being explored include ski-in/ski-out condominiums, private building lots, and the potential for hotel and spa facilities—positioning Poley as a premier all-season destination within the greater Fundy region.

Following the most successful winter season in the resort’s history, Hare emphasized that growth will remain balanced with a commitment to our customers and team members.

“Our priority continues to be delivering, in the words of one of our customers, more value for my Poley experience. This expansion supports that mission while ensuring long-term sustainability.”

As part of its ongoing diversification strategy, Poley Mountain is steadily transforming into a vibrant, year-round recreation hub.

“This acquisition is more than just land—it’s a major step toward realizing our vision of becoming a true four-season destination,” Hare added. “We’re building something special for our community, our visitors, and future generations.”
