Skyline Swansea: Work on the gondola line is moving forward

Over the coming weeks and months, tree felling will continue as part of the construction programme for the Skyline Swansea Project. This work is focused on the gondola corridor and is an important step in delivering the gondola line.
The works are being carried out within the approved corridor construction zone, and under the supervision of certified ecologists.

Public access to the hill is being maintained throughout. A safety exclusion zone is in place around active work areas, and a banksman will manage safe passage where a pathway crosses an active work site.
All vegetation removed will be mulched to support renewable energy generation and replaced with native broadleaf species, native shrubs, and grassland seeding as part of the project’s biodiversity commitments.

What is Skyline Swansea?

Based on Kilvey Hill, Skyline Swansea will be one of the city’s most exciting new tourism developments.

Skyline Swansea will create an accessible cable car ‘gondola’ which rises from the Copper Quarter to reach the summit of Kilvey Hill. At the top of the hill, gravity-powered downhill karting ‘Luge’ rides await, with a sky swing, walking and mountain biking trails, a children’s playground, and places to eat and drink. When completed, all existing public access routes will be maintained and new trails created.

Our vision? To open up Kilvey Hill for everyone to enjoy, bringing accessible tourism to the heart of Swansea.

This will be the first Skyline destination in the UK and Europe, a place where the sweeping views of Swansea Bay, Gower, and Bannau Brycheiniog can be enjoyed by all.

Whether you want to sit back with a cuppa, race down the hill, explore mountain bike trails or simply see the city from a new perspective, Skyline Swansea will be for the people who live here and the visitors who come.
