50 Years of Smiles: Bromley Mountain Celebrates the Alpine Slides Golden Anniversary

This year, Bromley Mountain proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Alpine Slide, honoring five decades of adventure, tradition, and memories shared across generations.

When the Alpine Slide opened on July 3, 1976, it wasn't just a new attraction—it was the beginning of a new chapter for Bromley. As North America's first triple-track Alpine Slide, it introduced thousands of visitors to a completely new kind of mountain adventure and helped establish Bromley as one of New England's earliest four-season resorts. Under the leadership of then-General Manager Stig Albertsson, Bromley helped pioneer the modern four-season mountain experience decades before it became common throughout the ski industry.

Since then, tens of thousands of riders have loaded the scenic Alpine Chairlift, taken in sweeping Green Mountain views, and experienced the excitement of winding their way back to Bromley’s base. For many families, it's become a tradition that spans generations.

"We hear stories every summer from guests who rode here as children and are now introducing their own kids—and even grandchildren—to the same experience.
