POMA: New 10-passenger gondola lift in the Cerro Chapelco ski resort, Argentina

The ski season begins in Argentina with the inauguration of a new 10-passenger gondola lift in the Cerro Chapelco ski resort. The ceremony took place in the snow on Friday, July 24, 2026, in the heights of San Martín de los Andes, notably in the presence of the governor of the Neuquén province, Rolando Figueroa, as well as the resort director, Nicolas Herrera.

This installation replaces an old POMA 6-passenger gondola lift commissioned in 1983, which over the years became one of the resort's symbols. For more than 40 years, it provided the strategic connection between the bottom of the ski area and the "1600 area", contributing to the development of skiing in this emblematic region of Argentine Patagonia.

The new 10-passenger gondola marks a major milestone in the transformation of Cerro Chapelco. Manufactured by POMA, it now connects the two areas in just five minutes and can transport up to 3,000 people per hour, significantly improving visitor comfort and the flow of access to the ski area.

This project is part of a vast modernization program launched under the resort's new concession: renovation of reception infrastructure, development of new services, and overall improvement of the mountain experience for visitors.
