Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis: Seamless Access to Adventure with SKIDATA Technology

For leading alpine destinations like Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, managing high visitor volumes while maintaining a seamless guest experience is critical. By partnering with SKIDATA, the resort has implemented state-of-the-art, barrier-free access systems that accommodate the unique demands of both winter and summer seasons.

From high-capacity ski days to the growing popularity of summer mountain biking, SKIDATA’s ‘sMove’ gates provide flexibility, efficiency, and an enhanced guest flow—ensuring that visitors can focus on what matters—enjoying their time in the mountains.

Project Overview

  • Efficiently managing up to 1.7 million skier days in winter and 800,000 summer visitors.
  • Barrier-free access for skiers, bikers, families, and those with special mobility needs thanks to SKIDATA’s sMove technology.
  • Future-proofed with real-time data monitoring for seamless, efficient operations.

Bergbahnen Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has worked with SKIDATA for years to manage access, payments, partner integrations, and more. Every year, they handle over 1.7 million skier days in winter and 800,000 summer visitors. SKIDATA’s solutions have proven reliable throughout this time.

Recently, Serfaus became the first mountain destinations to use sMove in operations during both winter and summer. This new gate system made things even smoother. Skiers in winter and families in summer loved the faster, easier access. With sMove, visitors experienced quicker, barrier-free entry, adding to the resort’s already efficient operations.

In the winter season, the ‘sMove’ gates ensure smooth entry at many of its 60 lifts, minimizing wait times and maximizing throughput on 210 kilometers of pistes. This reduces congestion and improves the guest experience. The wider gates make it easier for those carrying extra equipment, such as snowboards, sleds, or children's ski gear, reinforcing the resort's reputation as a top destination for family-friendly winter fun.

During the summer, the sMove system adapts effortlessly to handle diverse visitor needs, whether mountain bikers with bulky equipment, guests with mobility needs, or families with strollers. The barrier-free design provides uninterrupted access, making it easy for all types of guests to enjoy the mountain. For resort managers, this scalability ensures a future-proof solution that enhances operational efficiency and guest satisfaction throughout the year.

"We’re always looking for ways to remove barriers for our guests. With SKIDATA’s solutions, we’ve managed to create a more accessible, intuitive experience—one that works equally well for skiers in the winter and bikers or families in the summer." Christof Schalber, General Manager, Bergbahnen Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis
