Mount Washington: A Season of Upgrades Indoor and Outside

This winter marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter of upgrades at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. As Mike Manara steps into his first season as General Manager, after nearly twenty-five years of working across the mountain, he’s kicking things off by sharing a major wave of capital improvements. Nearly three million dollars has been invested this year into enhancements that will elevate the guest experience from first chair to last call. We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes all summer and fall, and now we’re thrilled to share what’s new for the 2025/26 season.

On the slopes, over $1.5 million in upgrades are shaping a smoother, more dynamic mountain experience. Several major runs - including Upper Westerley, Upper Exhibition, Riptide, Whiskey Jack, and Fantastic - received extensive brush cutting, along with key Nordic trails like Jutland and Disco Road.

The Tube Park now features new snowmaking infrastructure, and our beginner carpets, “Green Zone”, will shine bright with expanded night lighting for the holidays and Family Friday Night operations. The Hawk Chair received mechanical enhancements, and our operations fleet was upgraded with two brand-new snowcats, updated tracks for the existing fleet, a new excavator, and additional essential equipment. Even the Bike Park saw early groundwork as we look ahead to future summer developments, you can expect to ride next year.

While the slopes received major attention, an equal transformation occurred in Guest Services, with more than $1.3 million invested to enhance comfort, efficiency, and the overall guest experience on a daily basis. The Alpine Lodge has been refreshed, including fully renovated washrooms on both the main and upper levels. Ted's Bar also received a well-deserved glow-up with new flooring, a sleek new bar top, and upgraded taps. And yes - there’s a brand-new establishment on the way. We’re not quite ready to spill the details, but we can say this: après is about to get even better.

We’ve also added a new shuttle bus, improved parking lots, upgraded our alpine and Nordic rental inventory, and opened the resort early this November for Season Pass Pickup, shopping, and dining to help reduce Opening Day bottlenecks.

Through all of these changes, one thing remains at the heart of every decision: our community. Mount Washington has always been more than a ski hill; it’s where Vancouver Islanders come together to play, connect, and share their love for the mountains. Every investment we make is designed to help this community thrive, now and for future generations who will carve their first turns here.

We’re grateful to everyone who calls Mount Washington their home mountain, whether for a season, a lifetime, or just a weekend escape. The energy is high, the stoke is real, and the season ahead is one we can’t wait to share with you. Thanks for being part of our story, and we’ll see you out there for a Hot Lap with Mikey real soon.
