Kyrgyz Republic: OJSC Ala-Too Resort Signed New Contract with Doppelmayr

OJSC “Ala-Too Resort” and Doppelmayr have signed a contract for the construction of four additional ropeways at the Zhyrgalan resort. The document was signed by Valery Yashin, Head of the Russia & CIS Division of Doppelmayr, and Zharkynbek Maksutov, Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC “Ala-Too Resort”.

The new contract marks the continuation of a large-scale project aimed at developing a modern ski resort in the Issyk-Kul region. Under the first agreement signed last year, construction of two main ropeways is already underway. Their commissioning is scheduled for May of this year.

According to the document signed, four more ropeways will be constructed in Zhyrgalan by the end of the year. As a result, by December the total length of ropeway lines will exceed 8 kilometers, while the total length of ski slopes will reach 46 kilometers.

First Phase of the Resort Development

As noted by Valery Yashin, last year’s contract became the starting point for the large-scale construction of the new resort. During this period, in addition to the implementation of infrastructure facilities, a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Zhyrgalan was developed.

The master plan defines the first phase of the project, which includes not only ropeways but also the entire supporting infrastructure.

This year, in addition to the construction of lifts, extensive work will be carried out on the mountain to create a full-fledged service complex. The goal is to ensure that by December, tourists will receive a level of service comparable to leading global ski destinations.

Modern Technologies and International Experience

According to company representatives, the equipment being installed at the resort represents some of the most advanced solutions in the industry. Doppelmayr implements projects in 96 countries worldwide, and a resort of this scale in Kyrgyzstan will become the company’s first project of this magnitude in the Republic.

Special attention is being paid not only to the quality of the lifts but also to the entire resort infrastructure, which is being developed in line with high international standards.

Construction in Mountain Conditions

Despite the challenging mountainous terrain and climatic conditions, the contractor is confident that the deadlines will be met. Approximately 60% of the company’s projects are implemented in high-altitude areas. Doppelmayr’s portfolio includes ropeway construction at elevations of up to 4,000 meters above sea level.

The company emphasizes its extensive experience working in winter conditions, including the construction of technological corridors and the delivery of equipment to snow-covered areas. Construction in Jyrgalan is proceeding at an intensive pace, and in several areas the work is ahead of schedule.

The first lifts are planned to be commissioned by the end of May, and the entire first phase of the project is scheduled for completion by December of this year.
