Share Winter Announces 2020/2021 Grant Recipients

GRANTMAKING ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS RETURNING GRANTEES THROUGH A TUMULTUOUS WINTER SEASON.

The Share Winter Foundation (“Share Winter”) is pleased to announce their 2020/2021 grant recipients. Share Winter exclusively funds youth learn to ski (nordic and alpine) and snowboard programs, prioritizing those programs focused on providing skiing and riding opportunities to youth traditionally denied access to these sports. Through its grantmaking efforts, Share Winter strives to create a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming winter sports community.

In a year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, Share Winter is focusing on providing necessary funding to returning grantees to ensure the continued growth and success of their individual programs, with hope for growth and scale in the 2021/22 winter season. Each program demonstrates an ongoing commitment to providing opportunities for youth to not only learn to ski/ride, but also to creating pipelines for ongoing snow sports participation. Share Winter’s 2020/21 grant recipients are:
  • Antelope Butte Foundation
  • Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club
  • Big Sky Youth Empowerment Project, Inc.
  • Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe
  • Bridger Ski Foundation
  • Central Cross Country Ski Association (CXC)

Share Winter’s grantees, many of which will run modified programs this year, create skiing/riding opportunities for youth 6-18, across 21 states. “This has been a difficult year for everyone, and our goal is to help our returning grant recipients continue to meet the needs of their communities,” explains Constance Beverley, CEO of Share Winter Foundation. “We understand that programs will look different, and that it is unlikely, based on current circumstances, that our programs will serve as many youth as they have in the past. Regardless, these programs need reliable funding, and we hope that other funders agree and continue their crucial support in these unprecedented times.”  Share Winter plans to open grants to new applicants in the summer of 2021 for the 2021/22 winter season.

Share Winter is not a traditional funder. In addition to providing funding, Share Winter also helps facilitate organizational growth and increase both the efficiency and efficacy of grantee programs. Share Winter engages in ongoing program monitoring, analysis, thought leadership, and strategic support. During 2021, support for grantees includes training on race equity for organizational change, storytelling skills, financial best practices, and more.
