On June 11, the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) recognized Eldora with a Golden Eagle Award for Environmental Excellence in the category of Climate Impact. In doing so, NSAA specifically recognized Eldora’s unique approach to implementing pro-sustainability practices within each of its operational departments, as well as its carbon-reduction efforts through partnerships with local utilities.
“We are so proud to get this nod from NSAA,” says Hunter Wright, Eldora’s sustainability manager. “It highlights not only our efforts to date but the need for Eldora and the broader ski industry to continue prioritizing sustainability in every aspect of resort operations and the guest experience.

Environmental stewardship is a foundational value at Eldora and POWDR, Eldora’s parent company. Eldora’s corporate sustainability initiative, Play Forever, involves protecting the environment through operational efforts and by inspiring guests and staff to participate in outdoor adventure.

CSCUSA Double Diamond Award, Terrain Master of the Year

On June 22, Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) named Kevin Sprecher, Eldora’s terrain park manager, the Terrain Master of the Year. CSCUSA, the trade association of Colorado’s 22 ski and snowboard resorts, made the announcement during the Double Diamond Awards Ceremony at its 58th Annual Meeting, where it recognized ski-industry professionals “whose hard work, commitment, and expertise made the 2020-21 season possible.”

Sprecher was lauded for professionalism, leadership, and creativity in his management of the Woodward Eldora’s terrain parks, which are the closest and most convenient ski and snowboard terrain parks for Colorado’s Front Range communities.

“Kevin built an exceptionally progressive system that incorporates all skill levels and provides opportunity for fun and challenges for every skill of skier and rider,” says Eldora’s snow surfaces manager, Chris Cipolletti. “His motivation to perform and lead his crew not only keeps them engaged but inspires them to work hard and encourages creativity.”

Eldora’s Woodward Mountain Parks are the closest, coolest, and most innovative collection of terrain parks for Front Range skiers and riders.
