Waterville Valley Proposes New T-Bar Installation

Waterville Valley could have two lift installations underway this summer, as the New Hampshire resort is requesting permission from the US Forest Service to replace the World Cup T-Bar.

Construction began last fall on a new MND high speed detachable bubble six pack chairlift, which is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2022-23 ski season. The new T-Bar would also be installed by MND. Waterville Valley had an MND LST T-Bar installed in the High Country complex in 2018.

The White Peaks T-Bar would likely extend higher than the existing World Cup T-Bar, accessing additional terrain including the slalom start. The US Forest Service previously approved a World Cup T-Bar extension in 2011, citing that it would access 30% more terrain on chairlift-windhold days and "improve opportunities for competitive snow sports athletes" by providing faster turnaround time for the slalom start. The lift would also provide access to the terrain park slope.

The existing 1,182 foot long by 313 foot vertical World Cup T-Bar was installed by Hopkins in 1967, while the 1,300 foot long by 346 foot vertical Stadeli Exhibition Poma was installed in 1984. Both lifts would be removed as part of the proposal to "improve lift inventory with updated equipment" and "reduce the footprint of the lift inventory" while also enhancing the area's new night skiing offerings.
