LEITNER: Matterhorn Alpine Crossing project

Behind the scenes: 3'821m above sea level

The Matterhorn Alpine Crossing project by Matterhorn Zermatt Bergbahnen , for the highest ropeway crossing in the Alps, is making steady progress. The installation of a tricable gondola lift in a location where space is severely restricted not only requires the highest levels of precision from the construction workers but also poses major weather-related challenges for LEITNER's ropeway engineers. Despite all this, the vision of an Alpine crossing, running between Zermatt in Switzerland and Cervinia in Italy , is taking shape.
