A sneak peak into the 2023 Innovation Book by Mountain Planet

Three questions to Jérôme Riff, Mountain Planet General Manager

Why is crafting an Innovation Book important for Mountain Planet?

Mountain Planet is the leading international event for tomorrow’s mountains. The Innovation Book is an annual editorial collection reviewing the industry’s state-of-the-art innovations. Therefore, it’s role is to be a mirror and observatory of all the innovations and solutions proposed by mountain suppliers. This book is our way of contributing to this industry’s expertise!

What's new in the 2023 Innovation Book?

In terms of content, edition #3 covers tangible projects and initiatives to support mountains in their transition. We are no longer in the awareness phase; now it's the time for action. We will learn more about who is taking action, who are those genuine specialists who bring their research, work, and analyses to the debate. In terms of form, this is our first issue outside a trade show year. Indeed, mountain players aren’t content with innovating every two years. We decided to be a witness to emerging innovations and solutions, including those occurring beyond our event dates. Moreover, this edition is a hybrid version, available on paper and online. We will send a copy to French and international media outlets. We will also distribute the magazine, translated into English and German, at our booth during the Interalpin trade show in Innsbrück from April 19 to 21.

What 2023 innovations particularly caught your attention?

I was particularly impressed by the work conducted by the Courchevel Meribel 2023 World Championships Organizing Committee, obtaining two carbon footprints™ and ISO 20121 certification-preservation, environmental responsibility, and awareness. This contributes to a better quality of life and is not just motivated by a concern for the environment.I was also very interested in the STEPSOL solution, an energy storage system that can be intelligently embedded into snow-making equipment. Finally, developments in hydrogen for autonomous shuttles or goods hubs are additional solutions that caught my eye
