Vail Resorts: Epic Wellness

Mental health is a critical part of our overall health and wellness.  Everyone has either managed their own mental health needs or been a support for someone during a challenging period.  A recent survey by the American Psychological Association found that stress is at an all-time high. And on average, people wait 11 years to get treatment for mental health issues.

Epic Wellness is striving to change that for our team members and our mountain communities. The program was built to create an environment of wellness, where people feel comfortable reaching out to their friends and coworkers, checking in on their wellbeing, and aiding team members, their dependents and their roommates. Our Epic Wellness Team is managed by two licensed mental health professionals – Dr. Corey Levy and Alexis Ramirez, LPC – each with 20+ years of clinical experience.

“We aim to be deliberate in our outreach efforts, strategizing what information we use when to positively impact the most employees possible,” Dr. Levy said. “We also drive the notion that a compassionate and deliberate outreach made to a friend, coworker or loved one can help to express that someone cares and that options are always available to people no matter how dire something feels.”

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, but the time for these conversations isn’t just now – it's always. By continuously working to de-stigmatize mental health and thinking and talking about it in the same manner as physical health, we empower our communities to be active in peer-to-peer outreach.

Team members can find mental health support for themselves and their households by reading more about Epic Wellness on Direct Connect and in the EpicEmployee mobile app.
